Classification & Valuation

How do I classify my imported merchandise?

If you want to import an item but you are not sure of the Classification, you can request that Customs issue a ruling to determine the classification. There are different ways to do this, on a local level or a more formal level at Customs headquarters. You can also get an opinion from an Attorney or a Customs Broker. But remember, an opinion is just that. Customs is never bound by the opinion of an Attorney or Customs Broker. If you need more information concerning Classification, please contact Tom O'Leary.

If you have any questions about classification, please contact us.
